Litetouch provides intuitive tactile spatial awareness at a distance, giving blind and visually impaired users a clear sense of their surroundings long before they make contact.
It is a discreet, pocket‑sized distance‑sensing device designed to make the world easier to explore. Using millimetre‑accurate passive laser technology, it reveals the shape, location, and distance of objects up to 20 metres away—long before they reach your cane or your path.
On its side, where your index finger naturally rests, there is a gently moving pad that pushes forward or backward by a few millimetres. This motion represents how close or far the object in front of you is. Pressing on this pad lets you zoom in for more detail.
On the top, under your thumb, there is a small ridged wheel that clicks as you turn it. Each click changes the distance range the device looks at by 1m so you can focus and measure your scan. The front has the distance sensor and small camera, though you won’t need to touch these to operate it.
How It Feels to Use
Point Litetouch where you want to explore. As you move it, the touchpad gives you physical feedback letting you “feel” the shape of objects, find openings, or obstacles. The zoom and focus features provide control and context.
When connected to a phone, it can also describe text, people, or scenes using audio captured by a 5 megapixel camera and interpreted by the latest AI models.
Its designed for...
- Finding doorways and entrances in unfamiliar buildings
- Detecting benches, posts, and railings across open areas before approaching
- Understanding room layout—walls, open spaces, furniture and obstacles
- Scanning pavements or indoor floors for drops, steps, clutter, or uneven areas
- Navigating busy environments by anticipating people or objects ahead
- Spotting gaps and pathways through crowds, queues, or public spaces
- Reading signs, menus, and labels using optional AI text recognition
- Recognising scenes or objects (e.g., “kitchen”, “chair”, “doorway”) through the companion app
